About the Brand
Yogi tea originated from the original tea brewed by Yogi Bjajan,a reknowed Kundalini Yoga instructor, which he shared with his yoga students at the end of each class. It is based on the Indian, Ayurveda (science of life) which Yogi Bjajan had mastered in India and brought with him to the U.S. in 1969. It became known affectionately as "Yogi" Tea, by Bjajan's students.
"Ayurvedic philosophy, a 5,000 year old tradition, places equal emphasis on body, mind and spirit as it strives to restore the innate harmony of the individual." Yogi Tea was a spice tea that contained 5 traditional Ayurvedic spices prized for their healthful properties. These were, cardamom seed, cinnamon bark, clove bud, ginger root, and black pepper.
In 1984 the Yogi Tea Company was formed, and began production of spices and tea, by 1991 the company began using organic ingredients and today has 17 certified organic teas and 50 teas overall. The teas are now being packaged in line with the Body, Mind, Spirit product line. Along these lines, each tea plays a part, from jump starting the day to calming the mind, to reviving the spirit.

Yogi Tea has many nice blends with a wide range of theraputic properties. My husband is a rock singer and loves the Yogi Throat Soother tea. We like how they are individually wrapped and can be packed in lunch bags to take to work and school.
